Students in grades 6 through 8 continue to develop understanding of core ideas in the physical sciences. Performance expectations build on the K – 5 foundation continuing alignment with diocesan and NGSS standards. The performance expectations blend the core ideas with scientific and engineering practices. Students will develop usable knowledge to explain real world phenomena in all disciplines taught.
Performance expectations at the middle school level focus on students developing understanding of several scientific practices. These include: constructing and using models, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematical and computational thinking, and constructing evidence-based explanations.
